When I walk into these beautiful, broken down dwellings.  I wonder what it was like in its heyday.  Did they have parties here?  Were there any battles fought on these grounds?  When at all possible, I research  the history on these homes and even ask neighbors about them.  There is a lot of history that comes with these properties.  My search for the knowing, makes these homes become more interesting, and personal.  I am able to connect with them.  I can visualize the original owner, gazing out the windows , looking  across the vast, green, fields.
Upon entering these places, I conjure an image in my mind, of what it would have been like to walk across the floor, hearing the laughter descending the empty stairwell, as a breeze blew in through the open window, in the foyer.

It is as if, the spirits of the people, now gone, still touch the lives of the people that arrive at the door.  It is an inner sense of what once was and of what is now.  It is as if the line from the past and the present, merge together, becoming one.  I want and will always want to feel a kindred spirit with my past.  The past is what has made the present and the present will make the future.  We must embrace our past, and the ones that have went on before us. To appreciate the sacrifices they have made and the lives they have lived.
